HARLAN, Iowa (AP) - A former western Iowa doctor has been accused of molesting a 10-year-old girl in 1999.
The Council Bluffs Nonpareil reports (https://bit.ly/R5uP6m ) 81-year-old Wing Tai Fung, of Ontario, Canada, was arrested Monday at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago. A warrant for his arrest was issued in November.
A criminal complaint says Fung allegedly molested a girl in January 1999 while treating her for a knee sprain at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan.
Fung has been charged with felony second-degree sexual abuse. Court records do not list an attorney. The newspaper reports Fung made an initial court appearance in Illinois, and waived extradition so the case could be tried in Shelby County in Iowa.
Fung posted a $100,000 bond Tuesday. A court date has been scheduled on May 15.
