CHESAPEAKE, Va. (AP) - Chesapeake authorities are investigating a fire at a scrap metal recycling plant.

Fire department Battalion Chief Mike Thibeault tells media outlets that the fire occurred Wednesday night at Sims Metal Management.

Thibeault says some scrap metal caught fire while inside an above ground conveyor belt system. Firefighters brought the fire under control in about 30 minutes.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined. Thibeault says it doesn’t appear to be suspicious.
