A 75-year-old Bronx woman can call herself a millionaire after playing the lottery numbers from a very lucky fortune cookie she received from a New York City restaurant.
Emma Duvoll won $2 million after five of her numbers from the fortune cookie message matched the Powerball drawing Feb. 1, she said at a New York Lottery news conference Thursday, NBC Los Angeles reported.
“I was surprised but pleased,” she said.
Miss Duvoll bought the lottery ticket after dining at the Sammy’s Noodle Shop & Grill in Greenwich Village.
The restaurant owner joked that maybe the waiters should get 20 percent of her winnings, the Associated Press reported.
Miss Duvoll, a retired deli owner, chose the lump sum, which will be paid out as more than $1.2 million. She purchased the ticket at the Hannaford Pharmacy in upstate Pine Bush.
She said she plans to invest some of it and maybe take a trip to Switzerland.
