CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - The Senate approved more than 200 executive nominations to vacancies in state agencies, boards, commissions, and departments.

While most nominations were approved as a group, Democratic Sen. Roman Prezioso pulled one candidate from the list and voted individually on her appointment.

He voted against permanently appointing acting secretary of the Department of Health and Human Resources Karen Bowling.

He says he was concerned about an audit released last year that revealed the department was run inefficiently. He also expressed concern that a national job search was not conducted.

Before the vote, Republican Sen. Evan Jenkins spoke in favor of Bowling. He said she is both professional and capable.
