COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - TaKeria Legette scored 20 points and added 13 rebounds to lead four players in double figures as Latta beat St. Joseph’s 65-39 on Saturday in the Class A girls basketball state championship.

It’s the third state title in Latta’s history and the first since 2007.

The Vikings used a 19-3 run in the second quarter to take control. Legette hit two 3-pointers as the lead reached 34-16 just before the half. Legette finished also added four steals and three assists.



Jessica Evans scored 18 points, Brittany Burgess added 13 and Mallory Townsend chipped in 11 points for Latta (19-4). Maya Wright collected 16 rebounds as the Vikings won the rebounding battle 60-41 and forced 26 turnovers. They also held a 22-2 advantage on fast break points. .

Maeve McNamara led the way for St. Joseph’s (21-8) with 18 points. She was 6-for-9 on 3-pointers. Elizabeth Bannio added 11 points
