SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) - Kindergarten students at Whittier Elementary School are doing their part to help a local animal rescue facility.

The Sioux City Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1fTYIdX) that the students held walk-a-thon Friday at the school to benefit Noah’s Hope Animal Rescue.

Teamwork is a theme in the kindergarten language arts curriculum. The students decided to work together as a team by walking 10 laps around the Whittier playground.

Proceeds from donations made for the event will help the animal rescue group buy a new van.
