OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Junior Ty Lazenby scored 37 points to lead Glencoe past Kiowa 57-39 in the Class A state championship game Saturday at State Fair Arena in Oklahoma City.
It’s the second straight title and the third overall for Glencoe (29-0), which won in Class B in 2006.
Lazenby finished the tournament with 103 points in three games, matching the 10th-best total ever. It was only the 15th time that a boy reached triple-digit scoring during a state tournament.
Glencoe led 25-21 at halftime. Kiowa (27-5) was within 32-30 after a basket by Brice Smith with 3:15 left in the third quarter, but Lazenby scored 15 points during an 18-2 run that put the Panthers up 50-32 with 4:30 remaining.
Smith led Kiowa with 13 points and seven rebounds.
