AHOSKIE, N.C. (AP) - An autopsy has determined a woman found dead in her Ahoskie home earlier this month was shot in the chest.

Police said they found 85-year-old Ruby Baker hurt in her Hertford County home March 2 after her burglar alarm went off. She died a short time later at the hospital.

Ahoskie Police have released few details about the case, and have called the State Bureau of Investigation for assistance.

The medical examiner released a report Friday saying Baker was shot in the chest by someone standing away from her.
