GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - A study confirms women wait much longer than men to use the bathroom at a Grand Rapids theater, and achieving potty parity could be expensive.
The Grand Rapids Press reports (https://bit.ly/1hU5l5l ) Friday a study by Progressive Architecture Engineering finds women’s average waiting and use time was 14 minutes during intermission at a DeVos Performance Hall show last fall. It took four minutes for men.
One solution costing $69,000 would add five toilet stalls to a 10-stall women’s restroom. Another suggestion - adding 10 stalls through conversion and construction - would cost $295,000.
Broadway Grand Rapids Executive Director Mike Lloyd tells the Grand Rapids/Kent County Convention and Arena Authority he hopes changes come soon. Broadway Grand Rapids brings popular touring shows to the city.
The study was prepared for the authority.
