HONOLULU (AP) - Police say a dispute over a beach mat may have led to a fatal stabbing at Maili Beach Park.
Frankie Feliciano was stabbed Sunday. Derrick Hernandez is being held on $1 million bail on a second-degree murder charge.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser (https://ow.ly/um20A ) reports court documents say a witness told police Hernandez became angry when he saw Feliciano sitting on a chair on Hernandez’s beach mat.
The affidavit says that after the stabbing, Hernandez allegedly said the “guy is messing with my stuff.” According to the court document, Feliciano was taken to the hospital in critical condition with a 3- to 5-inch cut to his left temple. He died Monday afternoon.
Acting on a tip, police arrested Hernandez on Monday at a 7-Eleven store in Waianae.
