GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) - Cascade County officials have released the name of the C.M. Russell High School student who died in a two-vehicle crash while on her way to school.
The sheriff’s department says 18-year-old Samantha Sipes died Thursday morning on a frontage road next to U.S. Highway 89 east of Great Falls. The Montana Highway Patrol says Sipes was eastbound when she lost control on the icy road and slid into an oncoming pickup truck at about 7:15 a.m.
Trooper David Baggs says Sipes died at the scene.
Grief counselors have been made available to CMR students and stuff.
Students from both CMR and Great Falls High planned to wear purple at the girls’ Eastern AA playoff basketball game Friday night in honor of Sipes.
