SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Los Alamos National Laboratory Deputy Director Beth Sellers says she is resigning because of potential conflict of interest issues involving a family member’s lab consulting work.
The Albuquerque Journal reported Friday (https://bit.ly/1dAzS6z ) that a family member of Sellers received a lab consulting contract in 2012, but the relationship wasn’t properly disclosed for evaluation of a conflict of interest.
Sellers said in a statement she spotted the mistake several months later and asked for a review by lab officials. Changes have been made to prevent similar problems in the future but Sellers said she’s resigning because “this incident will be a continuing distraction to the lab’s important missions.”
Lab director Charles McMillan said he had accepted Seller’s resignation. She had been deputy director since December 2011.
