WOODSTOCK, Ill. (AP) - A psychologist has told a McHenry County judge that a repeat sex offender poses a considerable risk of re-offending if released.
The Northwest Herald in Crystal Lake reports (https://bit.ly/1cGcwsF) the Illinois attorney general’s office wants 55-year-old Guy E. Wilson kept in custody under the Sexually Violent Person’s Act. Wilson was sentenced in 2007 to nearly 11 years in Rushville Treatment and Detention Facility after pleading guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse for assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
It was Wilson’s third conviction for sex offenses. Under sentencing guidelines he is nearing his release date.
Dr. Joseph Proctor testified Thursday he believes Wilson is “more likely than not to re-offend,” and needs intensive treatment in a secure setting.
A defense witness, Dr. John Arroyo, testified Wilson wasn’t a candidate for civil commitment.
