WEST JORDAN, Utah (AP) - Salt Lake County’s top prosecutor will seek the death penalty for a 26-year-old man accused of killing three people at a Midvale home last year.

District Attorney Sim Gill announced Friday that he’d seek capital punishment against David Fresques, who’s accused of aggravated murder in the deaths of 35-year-old Omar Jarman, 34-year-old Shontay Young and 26-year-old Danielle Lucero.

Fresques also faces an attempted aggravated murder charge after another woman, Vickie Myers, survived the shooting.

Police say Fresques went from room to room in a killing spree on Feb 12, 2013.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports a motive was unclear even after a preliminary hearing, although witnesses suggested he may have thought Jarman was a snitch and disliked Young because she was black.

A four-week trial is set for March 2015.
