WASHINGTON (AP) - DC Water says tap water is now safe to drink for customers in northwest Washington who’d been told to boil their water earlier this week.

A boil-water advisory was lifted shortly before noon on Friday.

The problem was caused by a loss of pressure following a power outage at a pumping station. DC Water said Wednesday the water was at risk of contamination and issued the boil-water advisory as a precaution. It affected about 1,000 households.
