PLACERVILLE, Calif. (AP) - Fire officials say a house fire near the Northern California city of Placerville claimed the lives of two women.
The fire was reported around 5:45 a.m. Friday. El Dorado County fire officials say the single-story home was engulfed in flames when crews arrived at the scene.
They had been told that the homes’ occupants could still be inside, so they conducted a search.
Fire District Chief Michael Hardy tells the Sacramento Bee (https://bit.ly/1hU3NYd) firefighters found the two women in a back bedroom. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
They have not been identified. The fire was put out in about 45 minutes. The cause is under investigation.
