DETROIT (AP) - Detroit police have reissued a traffic citation given to a Detroit City Council member that was dismissed because of a paperwork mix-up.
The Detroit News reports (https://bit.ly/1jUBU30 ) the ticket for George Cushingberry Jr. was reissued Wednesday.
Police had said the officer who cited Cushingberry didn’t get a notice to appear in court because 36th District Court sent it to the officer’s old post.
Alcohol and marijuana were found during the Jan. 7 stop. Cushingberry was ticketed for failing to signal a turn but wasn’t given a sobriety test. Cushingberry’s passenger was licensed to use medical marijuana.
Cushingberry has said he wasn’t drunk and was a victim of racial profiling.
He told The News in an interview Wednesday that issues surrounding him shouldn’t distract from his efforts to address city problems.
