OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust board of directors has approved a one-year grant to 17 community-based grant programs.
The board has also voted to join other funders to educate youth and their families of the benefits of physical activity.
The board approved one-year grants to 17 grantees that are part of the trust’s Communities of Excellence Tobacco Control program. The initiative focuses on supporting healthy, tobacco-free organizations and environments, reducing youth tobacco use and promoting effective tobacco cessation services.
Under the one-year, $3.9 million award, 17 grantees will continue to serve 25 counties and one tribal nation through June 30, 2015.
The board also approved a 3-year grant totaling $845,000 to the Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation to increase knowledge about healthy behaviors and improve access to physical activity.
