DUNCAN, S.C. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a woman shot to death by a Duncan police officer after she jumped into his patrol car and tried to run him over.
Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger says the woman killed Tuesday morning was 24-year-old Rebecca Lynn Oliver. Her last known address was in Campobello.
Investigators say the officer was talking to a man after being called about a disturbance behind a motel on Interstate 85 in Duncan. Authorities say a woman also at the motel got into the officer’s cruiser and drove toward him. He fired his gun, killing her.
The other man at the scene, 27-year-old John Rockwood, faces charges including running from police. It wasn’t known if he had an attorney.
