CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - U.S. Rep. Robert Pittenger says criminals put $4,000 in fraudulent charges on his credit card.
The Charlotte Observer reported (https://bit.ly/P4cc1Y) that Pittenger told a House Financial Services Committee on Wednesday about the fraud. The panel was reviewing consumer data breaches last year.
He says his wife found out about the charges earlier this week. The charges occurred last month.
Pittenger says the charges originated overseas and were made to what appeared to be a vitamin company.
He says it’s important to figure out a way to stop breaches such as those involving Target and Neiman Marcus.
