TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a corrections officer at the Pima County jail is in custody for sexual misconduct with a minor.

Pima County Sheriff’s officials say the department was in the process of firing Yennifer Reyes when she resigned Thursday.

Reyes had worked for the sheriff’s department since May 2005.

Authorities say she was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of having sex with a teenage girl.

Sheriff’s detectives began an investigation Tuesday after receiving a report that Reyes had been involved in a sexual relationship that began in late 2013 and ended earlier this year.

Authorities didn’t immediately know Thursday if Reyes has an attorney.
