NEW YORK (AP) - An off-duty New York City firefighter who police say was driving drunk has been arrested after striking two women, one of whom was pregnant.
Police said Thursday Sean Farrell struck a 42-year-old pregnant woman and her 39-year-old companion as they crossed a Bronx intersection just before 6 p.m. Wednesday.
They say the 39-year-old lieutenant stayed at the scene as the women were rushed to Jacobi Medical Center with back and neck injuries. They say they’re in stable condition.
Farrell was charged with refusal to take a breath test and with a drunk driving. They say he’s had a previous DWI conviction in the past 10 years.
A FDNY spokesman says the 10-year veteran has been suspended for 30 days without pay. Attorney information for him wasn’t immediately available.
