SAN DIEGO (AP) - A San Diego jury has determined that a woman convicted of strangling her infant son and leaving his body in an alley was legally sane at the time of the killing.
Zewoinesh Badasso was found guilty last month of first-degree murder and child abuse in connection with the 2012 death of her baby.
She had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
If the jury had found that she was legally insane, the 35-year-old would have been sent to a state hospital.

Her 7-month-old son, David, died at a hospital after he was found on the ground in the Normal Heights area.
Badasso’s defense lawyer said the mother had a “dissociative episode” at the time of the killing.
