PHOENIX (AP) - A man wanted on a felony warrant in the death of his girlfriend last year has been arrested in Avondale.

The U.S. Marshals Service took 18-year-old Adrian Alfonso Martinez into custody Wednesday afternoon at his mother’s home with help from Avondale police.

Phoenix police say 24-year-old Amanda Dawn Mosley was shot on Oct. 1, 2013, and later died at a hospital.

They say Martinez allegedly had a handgun in his waistband and it caused Mosley discomfort as he was hugging her.

Police say as Martinez was removing the gun, it discharged and Mosley was struck by a bullet.

Martinez is being held on suspicion of negligent homicide.

He had his initial appearance Thursday in Maricopa County Superior Court. His bond was set at $100,000.

Martinez doesn’t have an attorney yet.
