CATSKILL, N.Y. (AP) - A 31-year-old man has been convicted of second-degree murder for shooting another man to death inside his Hudson Valley home.
The Times Union of Albany reports (https://bit.ly/MQnpBh ) that a Greene County jury has found Maurice Pratt of Poughkeepsie guilty of second-degree murder for killing 40-year-old Scott Myer at Myer’s home in Greenville, 20 miles south of Albany.
Tuesday’s conviction followed a seven-day trial.
Myer’s body was found on Jan. 1, 2013 after friends noticed his driveway hadn’t been plowed. Police said Pratt shot Myer several times before stealing his flat-screen television. Investigators said the two men had known each other for several years.
Pratt was later arrested at a Kingston hotel.
Pratt faces 25 years to life in prison when he’s sentenced May 9.
