BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (AP) - Battle Creek police have opened an internal investigation of more than one member of the department.

The Battle Creek Enquirer reports (https://bcene.ws/1fala2A ) interim Chief Jim Blocker announced the investigation on Wednesday, saying it’s “a pending personnel matter” involving “members” of the department. He declined to answer question about the investigation.

Blocker says he has met with other city officials. A memo was issued to personnel and department members were cautioned not to comment.

The investigation comes as Blocker takes over a department where questions about the way police leaders handled a drunken driving accident involving two off-duty police officers expanded into broader allegations of mismanagement in the department.

The former police retired in January.
