PELZER, S.C. (AP) - Anderson County authorities have released the names of three shot to death at a home in Pelzer.
Sheriff’s deputies took a suspect into custody Wednesday afternoon after a chase that ended when the man drove a truck stolen from a construction site and crashed into a house in Piedmont.
Deputy Coroner Don McCown says the victims were 40-year-old Wanda Anderson, 48-year-old Victor Vandegrift and 32-year-old Hank Eaton, all of Pelzer. Investigators said Vandegrift and Eaton lived in the house where the shooting occurred.
A fourth person was wounded in the shooting. McCown said Terra Hendricks was being treated in a Greenville hospital for injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
The suspect was also taken to a Greenville hospital for injuries suffered in the wreck. Deputies said the suspect had fired shots at them before he was arrested, but no officers were injured.
Five schools were put on lockdown during after-school activities during the chase.
Lt. Shelia Cole said charges were expected to be filed Thursday.
Sheriff’s deputies worked for hours to process the crime scene in the house.
