PHOENIX (AP) - Two Phoenix police officers have been treated for minor smoke inhalation after responding to an apartment fire.

Police say the officers were in the area about 3 p.m. Thursday when they noticed smoke coming from the complex near 19th and Peoria avenues.

The officers ran over to help and found two units on fire.



No people were inside either unit.

Phoenix Fire Department investigators say the two police officers knocked on doors alerting tenants of the danger.

They were later treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and taken to a hospital for evauluations.

The officers’ names haven’t been released.
