TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a boy at a Tampa Bay area middle school stabbed another student.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office reports that a 15-year-old boy stabbed a 14-year-old boy Wednesday morning at Jennings Middle School.

Deputies say the suspect was armed with a 4-inch, serrated steak knife and stabbed the victim in the back. It wasn’t immediately known what led up to the stabbing or why it occurred.



The victim was transported to a local hospital. His injuries weren’t considered life-threatening.

The suspect was taken into custody and charged with aggravated battery with deadly weapon and possession of weapon on school grounds.
