SALEM, Ore. (AP) - The West Salem High School girls basketball coach accused of sexually abusing a player was in Polk County Circuit Court Tuesday to hear that he now faces additional sex abuse charges.
The lawyer for 30-year-old Emrance Berger said he would hold off entering a plea. He’s next due in court on March 17.
Berger was arrested February 11 after a girl told her parents about him. He remains free on bail.
The Statesman Journal reports (https://stjr.nl/1lyI8sd ) Berger has been put on unpaid leave by the Salem-Keizer School District. He also works with the Department of Human Services and has been put on paid leave by the agency.
