PINE PRAIRIE, La. (AP) - A Pine Prairie man has been arrested after he allegedly broke into parcel lockers at the post office in Pine Prairie.
Assistant Police Chief Chauncy Fontenot tells KATC-TV (https://bit.ly/1ds9Bas ) that nine lockers were robbed during three incidents last November. After the third burglary, 28-year-old Jacob Carl Montie was identified as a suspect. Fontenot says Montie later confessed during an interview with police investigators.
Fontenot says the stolen items, including three sets of U.S. Mint coins, clothing, cosmetics and gourmet coffee were found at Montie’s home.
Montie faces charges of burglary of a post office and theft of over $300. He was booked Feb. 26 into the Evangeline Parish Jail. The jail said Wednesday he had been released on $12,500 bond.
It was not immediately known if Montie has an attorney.
