LOVELAND, Colo. (AP) - A Loveland man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a weekend shooting that wounded a police officer.
Authorities say 23-year-old Cody Alan Powell surrendered to police in nearby Fort Collins on Tuesday and was taken to Loveland.
He was arrested on charges of attempted first degree murder of a peace officer and first-degree assault.
No phone number could be found for him and it wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer. His name didn’t appear in online jail records.
Police haven’t said what role Powell is accused of having in the shooting or whether they are seeking other suspects.
Thirty-six-year-old officer Garret Osilka (oh-SIL’-kuh) was wounded on Sunday during a traffic stop. He is expected to survive.
An intensive search has been underway since the shooting.
