LAWTELL, La. (AP) - The state Fire Marshal’s Office says a Lawtell man and his wife died in a fire that engulfed their home, but two teens and an 11-year-old girl were able to escape.
Officials say firefighters found the bodies of 72-year-old Willis Amos Semien, and his wife, 66-year-old Lou Anna Semien in the charred rubble on Monday.
The Semiens lived on La. Highway 358, with three others: their 19-year-old daughter, a 14-year-old foster child and their 11-year-old granddaughter.
Officials say the fire originated in the area of the living room, but they have not yet identified the cause of the fire.
