RYE, N.Y. (AP) - A Westchester County teacher claims in a lawsuit that her school district is keeping her off the job.

Carin Mehler, a tenured fourth-grade teacher at Osborn Elementary School in Rye, filed the $1 million in federal court last week.

Mehler was one of four teachers placed on administrative leave for alleged improper coaching during the state assessment tests in April.

According to the Journal News (https://lohud.us/1fdLwoC ), her suit claims that by not filing any charges against her, the district is attempting to get her to admit a wrongful act.

The suit also alleges that she’s been “warned” to stay away from Osborn Elementary where he daughter is a student.

The school district called the lawsuit “illogical and baseless” and said it’s designed to coerce the board.
