NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Loyola University’s School of Mass Communication is offering a two-week program in June to introduce high school students to multimedia journalism.

“Backpack Journalism: From Beignets to Bayous” will start June 9 and include classroom sessions; work with social media; training in photography and shooting and editing videos. Students will also take field trips to the French Quarter, local newsrooms and Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve.
Loyola faculty members will lead the classes, which will run Monday through Friday through June 20.
