URBANA, Ill. (AP) - An eastern Illinois woman who admitted she drove an all-terrain vehicle recklessly in an accident that killed her cousin faces up to five years in prison.
Katheryn Daly pleaded guilty Monday to reckless homicide in the Oct. 6 death of Annie Daly. According to The News-Gazette (https://bit.ly/1i8Jrcu), 24-year-old Katheryn Daly will be sentenced May 16. The women lived near Philo (FEYE’-loh) south of Urbana.
State’s Attorney Julia Rietz says Daly was driving the ATV after a family birthday celebration when the vehicle skidded on a wet road and flipped over. Annie Daly, who was 19, was a passenger and died at a local hospital.
Rietz dropped drunk-driving charges when Katheryn Daly agreed to plead guilty.
Daly’s attorney Mark Lipton asked that she be sentenced to probation.
