Fire officials responding to blaze near GA highway

ATLANTA (AP) - Fire officials say they’re responding to grass fires near a highway in southwest Atlanta.

Atlanta Fire Rescue Spokeswoman Janet Ward says no injuries have been reported, and the Monday afternoon blaze near the Langford Parkway hasn’t prompted road closures or detours.

Ward says the fire stretches on for about a mile. The blaze sent a cloud of white smoke into the air that was visible from downtown.

The cause of the fire is unclear.
