FARGO, N.D. (AP) - The Cass County sheriff’s office has opened its tactical operations center because of the blizzard conditions affecting eastern North Dakota.

Sgt. Tara Morris with the Cass County sheriff’s office says the center helps coordinate response to accidents and assist emergency dispatchers with incoming 911 calls.

Morris says no major accidents have been reported in the area.

The center also determines whether ambulances should be escorted by law enforcement and even a plow truck due to limited visibilities on the roads.

North Dakota officials have closed I-29 from Grand Forks to the Canadian Border. Interstate-94 from Bismarck to Fargo remains close and so is U.S. Highway 2 from Devils Lake to Grand Forks.

The center will remain open overnight.
