DERIDDER, La. (AP) - Beauregard Parish sheriff’s spokesman Joe Toler says a preliminary autopsy report indicates that a 40-year-old woman whose body was found Saturday apparently had been strangled.

He says deputies found Mandy Kirl’s body after Caddo Parish deputies called with a report that “something bad” had happened at a DeRidder home.

Toler says Jeremy A. Bunch Sr. was apprehended Sunday in Shreveport and booked Sunday into the Beauregard Parish jail on a charge of second-degree murder.

It was unclear whether Bunch has an attorney.

Toler says investigators don’t yet have an official ruling on cause of death.
