ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (AP) - A former Alamogordo police lieutenant has settled a whistleblower lawsuit against the southern New Mexico city for $250,000.

The Alamogordo Daily News (https://bit.ly/1e4hQa3 ) reports that Lee Wilder agreed as part of his February settlement with the city to resign from the police force.

Wilder had alleged in a suit filed in U.S. District Court that he was the victim of retaliation for criticism of department policies and of alleged misconduct and reactions to incidents that included a fatal fire and car accident.

He now works for the Otero County Sheriff’s Office.

City Manager James Stahle would say only that the city wished Wilder well.
