PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A man has been arrested after police say he hit a Panama City Beach hotel guest in the head with a gun, causing it to discharge.
Police said 23-year-old Darius Simmons went looking for a family member Friday at the Edgewater Beach Resort, but knocked at the wrong room. Police said an argument ensued and the hotel guests asked Simmons to leave.
A few minutes later, police said Simmons returned and the fight turned physical. Simmons allegedly pulled a handgun from his pants and struck the victim in the head, causing it to discharge at least one round.
The News Herald reports (https://tinyurl.com/lyra9ox ) the unidentified victim wasn’t shot but was treated at a hospital for a head wound.
Simmons, who is from Georgia, was charged with carrying a concealed firearm and aggravated battery.
