CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A truck carrying an oversized load has struck and damaged a bridge over Interstate 25 north of Cheyenne, prompting highway officials to close the structure.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation said Monday crews are examining the bridge at the Nimmo Road interchange to determine the extent of the damage.

The bridge is about 24 miles north of Cheyenne.

It was hit Friday by a truck carrying a large open-pit mining truck. Highway officials say bridge girders had major damage.
