PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix woman has pleaded guilty to lesser charges in the 2012 death of her 2-year-old son.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 20-year-old Wendy Rogel-Pagasa pleaded guilty to negligent homicide and child abuse at a change of plea hearing Monday.
A judge scheduled an April 11 hearing on motions in the case, but didn’t set a sentencing date.
Rogel-Pagasa originally was charged with second-degree murder and child abuse in the February 2012 death of her son, George.
She pleaded not guilty to the charges a month later.
Phoenix police say Rogel-Pagasa called 911 more than three hours after the boy lost consciousness.
The child allegedly was beaten by Rogel-Pagasa’s boyfriend for not eating his dinner.
