LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Police say officers fatally shot a man after he fired at them in southwestern Jefferson County.

According to The Courier Journal (https://cjky.it/QrdrJ7 ), the Louisville Metro Police Department says officers responded to a report of shots fired at about 7:30 p.m. Friday, but did not find a suspect.

Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley said officers were called back to the area and found a man holding a handgun.



Police said the man attempted to run and fired a shot at the officers. Up to three officers fired back, striking the man an undisclosed number of times.

The man died at a hospital. He was identified as 25-year-old Tracy L. McCraw by the Jefferson County coroner’s office

Three officers have been placed on administrative leave, which is routine in officer-involved shootings.
