SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Stephen Thompson scored 20 points and four assists in nearly 22 minutes to help Bishop Montgomery win over Moreau Catholic, 85-44, in the California Division IV boys’ championship Saturday.

Ethan Thompson added 14 points and five rebounds for the Bishop Montgomery Knights of Torrance (27-6). The Knights won their third state title.

Oscar Frayer led the Moreau Catholic Mariners of Hayward (27-6) with 10 points.



The game was tied 4-4 in the first quarter until Bishop Montgomery built up a 33-16 lead on two free throws by Ethan Thompson with 2:33 left in the second quarter. Moreau Catholic trailed 36-19 at the half.

In the third quarter, Blake Miles made a layup off a behind-the-back pass from Stephen Thompson to make the score 53-26.
