BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Staff at the Vermont Veterans Home say they feel good about a recent inspection after facing the prospect of losing federal funding last year.
An inspection team visited the Bennington home on Monday from the Vermont Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living.
The inspectors act on behalf of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, which last year threatened to cut funds because of deficiencies found at the home.
Executive Director Melissa Jackson tells the Bennington Banner (https://bit.ly/Jea059) the inspectors looked at 49 patient care files and found no problems.
One inspector made three findings involving a dirty kitchen fan, too many wheelchairs in the hallways to create a possible fire hazard, and expired or unused medication being kept too long.
