WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a man was shot during a robbery attempt near a Wilmington business.

It happened about 10 p.m. Thursday at Edgemoor Liquors on Governor Printz Boulevard. Troopers say a man got out of a car after arriving at the store and was confronted by two men.

Police say one of the men had a handgun and the pair demanded money from the victim. When the victim failed to comply, he was shot, and the suspects fled.

The victim was flown to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the lower body.
