LYNN, Mass. (AP) - A Lynn teenager charged with a fatal shooting in the city in January has been held without bail.
Eighteen-year-old Jacquan McKenzie is charged with killing 29-year-old Hery Aquino on Jan. 12.
McKenzie was previously charged with trespassing, carrying a firearm without a license, and carrying a loaded firearm after being caught fleeing the scene of the shooting, but on Wednesday was charged with murder. A not guilty plea was entered on his behalf.
Prosecutors said in court Thursday that McKenzie was charged with murder because gunshot residue from a weapon used in the shooting was found on his clothes.
The Daily Item (https://bit.ly/1eZl5TL ) reports that the defendant’s lawyer said at least two guns were used in the shooting and suggested another explanation for the gunshot residue.
