GLEN, Miss. (AP) - A garbage truck caught fire Thursday on U.S. Highway 72, forcing the roadway to close for a time.

Alcorn County emergency management director Ricky Gibens tells The Daily Corinthian (https://bit.ly/1hi8VGg ) the cab of the Waste Connections truck was destroyed when a fire started near the vehicle’s battery box.

No injuries were reported.



The garbage truck, which had collected about half of its route, was westbound around 8:30 a.m. when the fire started.

Firefighters for the Farmington and Glen fire departments put out the fire.
