SALEM, Ore. (AP) - A state economist says Oregon is still a year away from recovering the jobs lost in the Great Recession.

Josh Lehner with the Oregon Office of Economic Analysis says the state lost more than 8 percent of its job in the recession that began in 2007. In the recovery, Oregon has regained about 70 percent of the lost jobs.

The Oregonian reports (https://bit.ly/QjoSma ) Oregon lost a larger percent of its jobs than the U.S. average and that the rest of the country has nearly made up the lost employment.

Lehner said Tuesday that Oregon is now outperforming some other states, but it has a lot of ground to make up.
